  Information

Amsterdam, one of the great cities of Europe, has many faces. You may know the romantic canals, the numerous bikes and the exciting night-life, however, Amsterdam offers so much more. It has a wide range of places of interest, historical monuments and more than 40 museums. Arts and antiques are for sale in quaint quarters, fashionable and upscale products in chic shopping streets. In Amsterdam you will not be bored!

You can experience everything in this city. You can visit diamond merchants, view the work of old masters or visit monuments and historic buildings. It is difficult to get bored in our capital city. Below you will find a description of some surprising possibilities. Amsterdam has more monuments than any other city in the world. Many monuments and historic buildings can be found in Amsterdam. If you walk along the Herengracht, Keizersgracht and the Prinsengracht, you will step back to into the Middle Ages for a moment: there are many historic buildings along these canals which encircle the city center and have inspired generations of artists. There is also a better way of discovering the magnificent narrow streets, namely a cruise along the canals, which you can enjoy throughout the year.

The Rijksmuseum is sometimes called Holland’s treasure trove. The largest museum for art and history in the Netherlands, is world famous for its collection. The centerpiece of the collection is the renowned paintings from Holland’s Golden Age. Here you will find works from Vermeer, Frans Hals, Jan Steen and Rembrandt. The jewel in the crown is of course Rembrandt’s masterpiece, the Night Watch.

Amsterdam is one of the entertainment capitals of Europe. It offers nightlife in abundance, from bars with live music to stylish casino's, from trendy nightspots to dynamic disco's, from theatre productions to eye-opening entertainment in the red-light district. Most of the cafés, restaurants, nightclubs and discotheques are located around the Leidseplein and the Rembrandtplein areas, and are still lively in the early hours of the morning. For your convenience we have made a selection of not to be missed nightlife of Amsterdam. Check out the different sections to find the amusement that suits you best.
