Andean Circuit - 9D/8N

Peulla photo courtesy of Chile Tourist BoardA chain of lakes, forests, meadows and snow-covered volcanoes between the Bio-Bio river and the town of Puerto Montt gives shape to one of the most beautiful landscapes in the country of Chile.

Santiago is a delightful blend of 19th century Europe, Spanish colonial, and modern architecture in both downtown and the newly erected suburbs. Both new and old residential sections have an array of gorgeous plants, flowers, trees, and shrubs. With a hovering backdrop of snow-capped mountians, Santiago at 1800 ft. beckons the air traveler with one of the most dramatic views to be seen anywhere.

Puerto Montt was settled by German colonists in the mid-19th century, and is one of Chile’s most important cities. It features middle-European architecure, with shingles, high-pitched roofs and ornate balconies. The redwood cathedral on the city’s plaza is the city’s oldest building, dating from 1856. The city is the transport hub and access point to the southern Lake District, the island of Chiloe and Chilean Patagonia. This attractive port town and grown industrial center offers excellent handicraft markets, seafood restaurants and a range of services; the city also serves as an excellent base for exploring the southern lake region.

Buenos Aires is located by the Rio de la Plata, the widest estuary in the world. It is the capital of the tango and futbol. The city is very diverse, easily changing from narrow streets to wide avenues. It is easy to catch its spirit by taking a walk along the streets of downtown, browse elegant shops, drink coffee in a sidewalk cafe or visit the residential neighborhoods.
