  Information

Burkina Faso was once part of the Mossi kingdoms which controlled the trade routes connecting the Gold Coast to the northern kingdoms of Timbuktu, Mali, Gao and Bornu.

Although still a resource-poor, landlocked country on the edge of the Sahara, Ouagadougou, the capital, stages one of Africa's leading cultural events, the FESPACO, Pan-African Film and Television Festival.
