Chad is a little known country of vast Sahara desert in the north and savannahs with wildlife in the south. Here is Zakouma National Game Park, Chad's largest preserve with lots of animals. The most interesting attraction, though, remains largely off limits as the Tibesti Mountains are still populated by rebel groups, and sporadic fighting still takes place. These travel difficulties along with the ever-present danger of armed uprisings make it a place best suited for real adventure travelers.
