Poás Volcano National Park: the most frequently visited park in the Costa Rican National Park system. It has two impressive craters: one active and one that holds a lovely crater lagoon. The massive active crater often has sulfuric gases rising out of the boiling, muddy lake on its bottom. Dwarf vegetation and lush cloud forest, teeming with species of birds and plants native to the volcano surround the beautiful crater lagoon.

Not Included: Departure airport Taxes US$26.00 per person. This amount must be paid directly at the International Airport - Meals or activities not specified on the itinerary.
Self-Drive: Mandatory deposit (US$750.00) and insurance (US$18.00 daily) are not included on the car rental. These amounts must be paid to the car rental company with a personal international credit card.

Day by day Itinerary:

• Day 1 Welcome to Costa Rica - Arrival to Juan Santamaría International Airport; meet, greet, and transfer to the hotel. Accommodation at El Rodeo Hotel or similar.
• Day 2 San Jose – Poás Volcano – Sarapiquí - 8:00 am After breakfast at Rodeo Hotel departure on transfer to Sarapiquí Area visiting Poás Volcano National Park en-route After visit the Poás Volcano journey continues to Centro Neotrópico SarapiquíS for overnight. Rest of day at leisure to explore the surroundings on your own.
  Centro Neotrópico SarapiquíS: Inspired by the indigenous pre-Columbian architecture of the “palenques”, this comfortable ecolodge was designed to relax, to learn, to be challenged physically and mentally. It is a tropical setting of the majestic rainforest, with tropical birds and “Chester’s Field” botanical gardens. Visitors will also enjoy the unique archaeological park “Alma Ata”. Accommodation at Centro Neotrópico SarapiquíS or similar. (B, D)
• Day 3 Hacienda Pozo Azul - After Breakfast, visit to Hacienda Pozo Azul, it is a 2,000 acre ranch in Sarapiquí. Accommodation at Centro Neotrópico SarapiquíS or similar. (B, L, D)
• Day 4 Sarapiquí – Arena - After breakfast at hotel, ground transfer to Arenal Volcano. 2:15 pm Afternoon pick up at the lobby of the hotel for the Arenal Volcano and Hot springs tour. You will also visit the local Hot springs, which are at the foot of the volcano. Accommodation at Arenal Paraíso Hotel or similar. (B, D)
• Day 5 Arenal – Monteverde - 7:00 am Breakfast at the hotel followed by transfer to Monteverde Cloud Forest Area. Accommodation at Fonda Vela Hotel or similar. (B)
• Day 6 Monteverde – Central Pacific - Breakfast at hotel and then transfer from Monteverde to Central Pacific Coast with visit to Carara National Park en-route. After tour, journey continues to Punta Leona hotel for check in and overnight. Accommodation at Punta Leona Hotel or similar. (B)
• Day 7 Bijagual Waterfalls - Breakfast at hotel. This day you will enjoy a tour to “Bijagual Waterfall. Afterwards you can explore this mystical site and observe the abundant wildlife. Accommodation at Punta Leona Hotel or similar. (B)
• Day 8 Adios Costa Rica - Transfer from Central Pacific Coast back to San José International Airport for the flight back home (2 hour driving time). (B)
