Great Tropical Drive: Australian Self-Drive - 7D/6N

photo courtesy of Australian Tourist Board One of the best ways to independently travel in Australia is by self-drive car because it allows you to be mobile at all times, stop whenevery you want, and discover Australia at its best. The tours listed here are pre-planned itineraries with accommodation and car rental starting from major cities and/or tourist areas. They have been carefully designed to offer you the benefit of our experience of Australia and include all the places of interest that are a must-see for your vacation. Australia has a good connection of well-maintained roads and highways. In an air conditioned car, with a well planned route, you will have overnight stops so you cover a reasonable distance each day. The Great Tropical Drive tour begins in Cairns and travels through Atherton, Undarra, Charters Towers, Townsville, and Mission Beach before returning to Cairns.

Departures: Daily.

Included: Car and 4WD vehicle rental has been calculated on a pick-up time of 09:00 hours on Day 01 and drop off at 17:00 hours on the last day of the itinerary. Hertz Car Rental and Territory Thrifty include Loss or Damage Cover, which covers the renter for damage to the vehicle, as well as Third Party Property damage. However, a standard liability charge applies to each claim. Also included in Hertz Car Rental and Territory Thrifty rental is Compulsory Third Party (CTP) which covers the renter for liability for injuries sustained to other persons / passengers in an accident. Please note this cover does not cover the driver of the Thrifty vehicle for any injuries. Protection against injuries sustained by the driver of the vehicle is optional. Car rental includes unlimited kilometres. Accommodation where specified with private facilities.

Not Included: Any international or domestic airfares. Fuel for both Car and 4WD rentals. Government Stamp Duty Taxes on both Car and 4WD rentals (approximately 2% of the rental cost per day). This is to be paid by clients upon collection of rental vehicle. Airport Concession Recover Fees (ACFR) are payable on all rentals collected at Australian airports. These fees vary from airport to airport and are paid direct. Fees are subject to change without notice. Vehicle Registration Recovery Fee – vary from State to State. Currently they are approximately $3.00 per day in Western Australia and $5.00 per day in all other states. Any bonds for the rental vehicle. (Clients must have a widely recognised Credit Card). Meals, Tips, Porterage, Gratuities or items of a personal nature.
