Marvels of General Carrera Lake - 4D/3N
South of the South, where silence reigns, is the majestic landscape of Chilean Patagonia. Patagonia is a region of vast steppe-like plains, rising in a succession of abrupt terraces about 100 meters at a time, covered with an enormous bed of almost bare vegitation. In the hollows of the plains are ponds or lakes.
General Carrera Lake, also known as Lake Buenos Aires, is the largest lake in Chile. Although this area of Chile is generally cold and humid, the lake experiences a sunny microclimate. The coast of the lake was first inhabited by Criollos and European immigrants between 1900 and 1925. The Chilean side of the lake has been mostly isolated and was for years accessed through Argentin, until the creation of the Carretera Austral in 1990. This connected the area to the rest of Chile and permitted tourism in the area.

Itinerary
- DAY 01 BALMACEDA OR COYHAIQUE-CARRETERA AUSTRAL-PUERTO GUADAL - Reception at the airport in Balmaceda or Coyhaique. The trip starts at the Austral Road until Puerto Guadal. On the way, excursion by boat to the “Capilla de Marmol”, incredible millenary caves that have been drawn by the ocean waves. Arrival to the Puerto Guadal. Accommodation at the Lodge Terra Luna, by the General Carrera Lake. (L,D)
- DAY 02 PUERTO GUADAL - Lodge Terra Luna invites to get to know the area by giving a menu of excursions: horseback-riding, fishing, trekking to the Baker River, and tours to the Glaciers, General Carrera Lake. Also you can fly over de “Campo Hielo Norte”, the “Monte San Valentín” (4057m) and the San Rafael Lagoon (optional). In the afternoon return to the lodge, you will have time to share your unforgettable experience. Accommodation at the lodge. (B,L,D)
- DAY 03 PUERTO GUADAL - Free day to enjoy all the beauty of the region. A menu of excursion to be chosen. (B,L,D)
- DAY 04 PUERTO GUADAL-CHILE CHICO-BALMACEDA - Transfer to Chile Chico, following an extraordinary road by the mountain and lake. Arrival to Chile Chico. Transfer to Balmaceda to take your flight.(B,L)
