  Information
The Atlantic to the west, the Mediterranean to the north, wonderful beaches, four mountain ranges with cascading waterfalls, century old cedar forests, eternal snows, immense plains flowering with orange and almond blossom, rivers that lay out a carpet of greenery to the threshold of the desert and carve out the most spectacular gorges: From the Straits of Gibraltar to Mauritania, nature has made Morocco one of the most beautiful countries in the world, the country that is a feast for all the senses.

Morocco has been inhabited since very early prehistoric times, as the many prehistoric remains show. Then came the Phoenicians, Carthaginians, Berbers, Byzantines, Romans and Vandals before the Arab invasion which took place in the 8th century. Morocco as an independent state has been in existence since 788 AD, when Idris I was proclaimed King at Volubilis (by way of comparison, it was nearly 100 years later that King Alfred the Great became King of Wessex). Today, Morocco is a constitutional monarchy. King Hassan Il came to the throne in 1961. A descendant of the Prophet, he is also the Commander of the Believers, or in other words, Morocco's religious leader.

Variety in Morocco has a wide meaning, and extends to the people. The Moroccan population estimated today at 29 Million inhabitants is a mixture of different ethnic groups and races, and different beliefs and religions, which have peacefully coexisted for many centuries. Such a variety automatically had a positive influence on creativity in Morocco : a gastronomy estimated to be one of the finest cuisine in the world, rich architecture as a product of long experience and a very expressive folklore.

Morocco is a land which invites you to enjoy delightful and happy holidays, a land where nature proudly exhibits its beauty, and where the people meet you know how to greet and honor their guests. Gently touched by both the Mediterranean sea and the Atlantic ocean, and a short distance from Europe through the Strait of Gibraltar, Morocco offers a rich diversity of landscapes. Here you will gaze at snow-capped mountains, empty deserts and coastal plains that stretch to the horizon. Each city is a facet of an incredibly different and unique culture: Fez tipically Arab, Marrakesh completely Berber, Casablanca with European and Tangier plainly cosmopolitan.

The country has always attracted great conquerors and is a civilizations melting pot: Phoenicians, Romans, Arabs, Andalusians and Africans all came to conquer and carried the wealth of their knowledge to Morocco, this is what makes up the very core of Morocco today.
