Not included: Domestic air ticket Luang Prabang / Vientiane by Lao Airlines at USD 81.- net per ticket (subject to change without prior notice) - Domestic air ticket Bangkok / Chiang Rai - International Airfare - Departure airport tax in Vientiane : USD 10.00 per person - Laotian visa fee upon arrival - Personal insurance - Expenditure of a personal nature, such as drinks, souvenirs and laundry, etc. - Other tours and meals than mentioned in the program.

Departures: Every Monday and Friday, May - September 2009 with a minimum of 2 passengers.

Day by day Itinerary:

  • Day 1 Monday/Friday: Bangkok - Chiang Rai - Chiang Saen (L/D) - Depart Bangkok to Chiang Rai by TG 132 for Chiang Rai. Arrive Chiang Rai Airport. Lunch at the Yunnan restaurant. Afternoon transfer to Chiang Saen, the former capital of the first Thai Kingdom, situated directly on the Mekong River at the border between Thailand and Laos. On arrival in Chiang Saen, transfer to the Imperial Golden Triangle Resort or similar hotel. Dinner and accommodation at the Imperial Golden Triangle Resort.

  • Day 2 Tuesday/Saturday: Chiang Saen - Chiang Khouang - Houeisay - Pakbeng (B/L/D) - Breakfast at hotel. Transfer from the Imperial Golden Triangle Hotel to Chiang Khong on the border for custom and immigration clearance. Cross the river by ferry boat to Ban Houeisay in Laos. Arrive Houeisay border & meet cruise’s staff to transfer to pier. Board the Pak Ou boat which leaves Houeisay pier at 9.00 and cruise down the Mekong to Pakbeng – en route two stops are made, one for picnic lunch on the river bank and other one to discover a village of minorities (Yao or Lu). Dinner on the terrace, overlooking the Mekong River. Accommodation at the Luangsay Lodge in Pakbeng.
  • Day 3 Wednesday/Sunday: Pakbeng - Luang Prabang (B/L/D) - Breakfast at the lodge. (Optional: walk to Pakbeng market, where people from the surrounding villages of minorities exchange their goods). Arrive Luang Prabang before sunset & transfer to Villa Santi Hotel or similar. Dinner and accommodation at the Villa Santi Hotel.
  • Day 4 Thursday/Monday: Luang Prabang (B/L/D) - Breakfast. Morning visit of the main pagodas. Lunch Le Elephant Restaurant. Afternoon excursion by car to visit the most famous waterfalls of Kuangsi. Return to Luang Prabang. Dinner and accommodation at the Villa Santi Hotel.
  • Day 5 Friday/Tuesday: Luang Prabang - Vientiane (B/L/D) - Breakfast. Visit National museum (the former King’s palace) and local market. Transfer to the airport. Depart Luang Prabang by QV102 for Vientiane. Arrive in Vientiane & transfer to the Novotel Hotel. Lunch at the hotel. Afternoon visit of Vat Sisaket, That Luang Stupa, Vat Hoprakeo and Patousay. Dinner at the Tamnak Lao restaurant. Accommodation at the Novotel Hotel.
  • Day 6 Saturday/Wednesday: Vientiane / Departure (B) - Breakfast. Transfer to the airport for departure flight to the next destination.
