  Information
The Commonwealth of the Northern Marianas, containing all the islands of the Mariana Island chain except for Guam, is a U.S. possession. The islands were wrested by the U.S. from Japan in some of the most bitter battles of World War II.

Most of the visitors to the island are Japanese, and Tinian, once known as the place where the B-29 Enola Gay took off for its raid on Hiroshima, is now the site of a huge casino catering mainly to Asian high rollers.
