Oman, one of the oldest states on the Arabian peninsula and once an important sultanate, has only recently allowed tourists inside the country and has retained many of its traditional desert ways. Here you can still see boat builders still crafting dhows by hand and Bedouins villages perched on the precipices of yawning gorges along with wild desert villages and palm-lined oases. Here you can also find luxurious tropical seaside resorts, with opportunities for scuba diving and fishing.
