Qatar, a tiny but oil-rich sheikdom on the Persian Gulf, is still a long way from becoming a tourist destination. Although women enjoy more freedom than in other Gulf states and Al-Jazeera broadcasts from Doha without censorship, the country still regards foreign cultural influence as a possible danger.
