Ski St Moritz

SaintSt. Moritz, huddled on the south side of the Alps at the the “Top of the World” in the Engandine Valley at 6,000 feet above sea level, is Switzerland’s most famous “jet-set” winter resort, it is glitzy, pricey and fashionable but, above all, where people want to be seen. Here one could enjoy an all-round winter holiday with an unrivalled choice of diversions, from polo, golf and cricket on snow to gourmet and music festivals. St. Moritz, after all, has fascinated and delighted visitors for more than 3,000 years, including those Roman legions that having to spend the winter in the Engandine valleys decided never to leave. Today visitors come not only for the famous spa, but for some of the best skiing, winter events, and après-ski on the planet and the five main ski resorts offer 55 mountain railways and lifts with 210 miles of slopes for fantastic skiing and snowboarding. There are also 90 miles of cross-country skiing trails. Away from the slopes, visitors will find the chance to try out skating, bobsledding, or curling and if you’re really in the mood to try something different, try to hold onto your toboggan on the Cresta Run, which carries you down, head-first, at speeds of over 85 miles an hour! The entire valley is undergoing refurbishing in preparation for the Alpine Ski World Cup Championships in 2003 with hotels and the town itself making huge investments in improvements to the facilities, adding a new ice arena, indoor tennis and riding center, and a pedestrian area.
