Snow From Southern Chile - 6D/5N

photo courtesy of Chile Tourist BoardA chain of lakes, forests, meadows and snow-covered volcanoes between the Bio-Bio river and the town of Puerto Montt gives shape to one of the most beautiful landscapes in the country of Chile. Puerto Montt was settled by German colonists in the mid-19th century, and is one of Chile’s most important cities. It features middle-European architecure, with shingles, high-pitched roofs and ornate balconies. The redwood cathedral on the city’s plaza is the city’s oldest building, dating from 1856. The city is the transport hub and access point to the southern Lake District, the island of Chiloe and Chilean Patagonia. This attractive port town and grown industrial center offers excellent handicraft markets, seafood restaurants and a range of services; the city also serves as an excellent base for exploring the southern lake region.

Itinerary

  • DAY 01 PUERTO MONTT o PUERTO VARAS / ANGELMÓ / PUERTO MONTT o PUERTO VARAS - Departure from the hotel in Puerto Montt, visiting Plaza de Armas and the Cathedral. Then, arrival to the top of Melipulli, one of the hills of the city that offers a panoramic view of the port, Tenglo Island, and the small bay of Reloncaví. Then the tour continues to the beaches of Pelluco and Chinquihue, fishing industries and boats, are seen on the way. Visit to the craftwork market of Angelmó, where there is a seafood market. Return to the hotel in Puerto Montt or Puerto Varas. Accommodation.
  • DAY 02 PUERTO VARAS / ENSENADA / VOLCÁN OSORNO / PUERTO VARAS - Departure from Puerto Montt to Puerto Varas, bordering Llanquihue lake until arriving at Villa Ensenada. Entry to the Vicente Pérez Rosales National Park, place where this excursion with take place, hiking to Osorno Volcano,
    walking through coigües and other native species. A stop will be done at 1.000 mt. of altitude to observe La Burbuja Crater, admiring the view of Petrohué River valley and Calbuco Volcano in the Andes Mountain Range. The expedition continues to the ski centre located at 1.200 mt. A stop is made to begin the last stretch of this excursion and enjoy the sight of Osorno volcano. Return to the hotel in Puerto Montt or Puerto Varas. (B)
  • DAY 03 PUERTO MONTT o PUERTO VARAS / PARQUE NACIONAL VICENTE PÉREZ ROSALES / PEULLA - Andean Crossing®, departure for an excursion to Peulla, bordering Llanquihue lake, close to Calbuco volcano is the entrance to Vicente Pérez Rosales National Park. Admiring the majesty of Osorno volcano, Petrohué River falls and Todos los Santos lakes. Navigating through the emerald coloured water of this lake provides the chance of observing native forests, the Andes Mountain Range, volcanoes and waterfalls. Arrival to Peulla, a small Andean village located on the western shore of Todos los Santos Lake. Dinner and accommodation in Peulla. (B)
  • DAY 04 PEULLA / BARILOCHE - Departure for crossing Vicente Pérez Rosales National Park towards Frías Lake from where we begin the route to Puerto Blest. After a short trip on a bus, the navigation continues to Nahuel Huapi lake. Arrival to Puerto Pañuelo. The journey continues until arriving to Bariloche. Arrival to hotel and accommodation. (B)
  • DAY 05 BARILOCHE / PENÍNSULA DE LLAO-LLAO / CERRO CAMPANARIO/ BARILOCHE - Departure from Bariloche bordering Nahuel Huapi Lake towards the West. Arrival to the zone of Llao Llao, visiting San Eduardo Chapel; view to the Llao Llao Hotel. The tour continues to Llao Llao Municipal Park with signalled walking paths, and Villa Tacúl. Then the trip goes to the Panoramic Point, seeing Escondido Lake, Angostura River, and López Bay. At this point,
    it is possible to get a beautiful view of Moreno Lake, el Trebol lagoon and the Llao-Llao zone. Arrival to Bustillo Avenue, visiting Campanario Hill, where a chair lift goes up to the café, which has a great view from the top. Return to hotel in Bariloche. (B)
  • DAY 06 BARILOCHE - At agreed time, transfer to airport for departure flight. (B)
